Thank you for your interest in the Troi Activator Plug-in. With this FileMaker Pro™ plug-in you can trigger FileMaker scripts on a different computer from your own copy of FileMaker.

This cross-platform plug-in is compatible with Filemaker Pro 6 and 5.x. Finally you can do things you thought were still impossible to do with FileMaker Pro. Now you can create powerful databases by using this plug-in!

NOTE Version 1.5 uses the 'classic' plug-in API which is using the External( "functionName" , "parameter") format. This means that higher ASCIIs are converted to spaces. See our web site for the Troi Activator Plug-in 2.0 (or later) which is using the more powerful Plug-in API which was introduced with FileMaker Pro 7. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

INSTALLING A (TROI) PLUG-IN FOR THE FIRST TIME.

For FileMaker Pro 5.x and 6:

For Macintosh: put the file "Activator Plug-in" from the folder "Mac OS Plug-in" into the "FileMaker Extensions" folder in the FileMaker Pro 7 folder. If you have installed previous versions of this plug-in, you must remove them.
For Windows: put the file "Activatr.fmx" from the directory "Windows Plug-in" into the "SYSTEM"" subdirectory in the FileMaker Pro 6 directory. If you have installed previous versions of this plug-in, you must remove them.

For FileMaker Pro 7:

For Macintosh: put the file "Activator Plug-in" from the folder "Mac OS Plug-in" into the "Extensions" folder in the FileMaker Pro 6 folder. If you have installed previous versions of this plug-in, you must remove them.
For Windows: put the file "Activatr.fmx" from the directory "Windows Plug-in" into the "Extensions"" subdirectory in the FileMaker Pro 7 directory. If you have installed previous versions of this plug-in, you must remove them.

You may want to install other plug-ins before proceeding. Then (re)start FileMaker Pro. The Troi Activator Plug-in will display a dialog box, indicating that it is loading and showing the registration status. You can now open the file "All Activator Examples.fp5" to see how to use the plug-in's functions.

Software Requirements: Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 6), Windows 2000 or Windows XP

FileMaker requirements

FileMaker Pro 6, FileMaker Pro 5.x or higher or FileMaker Developer 6 or 5.x or higher.

NOTE: This plug-in should also run without problems on any machine that is able to run FileMaker Pro 4.0, FileMaker Pro 4.1 and runtimes from FileMaker Developer Edition 4.0 and machines running Mac OS 8.x, 9.0 and Mac OS 10.0.X. We have done some limited testing for this and found no significant problems. However we don't provide support for these versions.

If you still run on Mac 68k use the 1.3x2 SPECIAL build (30-Jan-2002) available for download from the Troi web site.

Troi Activator Plug-in is a commercial product

You can try-before-you-buy. This means that you are free and invited to test the plug-in 30 days before you pay. You may also make copies of the original and complete package (including this Read Me file) and distribute it to customers, friends etc. However, you may not distribute a modified or licensed version.

Use Troi Activator Plug-in at your own risk

Although Troi Activator Plug-in was tested carefully, we can not be responsible for any damages resulting from using this software. Also please try it out on a test database. Your system may be using an extension (unknown to us) that interferes with the proper functioning of Troi Activator Plug-in.

We like to hear feedback on the benefits and shortcomings of the plug-in. Please include the platform and operating system in your suggestions and comments.

What are the costs?

You can only buy a license for Troi Activator 2.0. After you have paid you will receive a registration for Troi Activator Plug-in 2.0 (for FileMaker 8 or 7). The classic Troi Activator Plug-in 1.5 (for FileMaker 6) registers with this registration too. So you get a registration that works for both versions!

Troi Activator Plug-in 2.0 has the following pricing:

New Licenses:

Note that Troi Activator Plug-in 1.5 (for FileMaker 6) also works with this registration, so you can also develop for FileMaker 6!

Upgrades from previous versions

You need to use a new 2.0 version of the registration. If you bought a license on or after September 1st, 2004 the upgrade is FREE! Note: the 2.0 version needs a new registration string. We will email all eligible customers a new registration string. Contact us if you have not received yours.

If you bought a license for version 1.4.1 or earlier before September 1st, 2004 you will need to upgrade to use the 2.0 version.
NB: If you just want to use the 1.5 version, note that the version 1.5 also accepts older 1.0 registrations.

How to pay?

Paying for a license is easy. We have several ways to pay. More information on this can be found on the order page on our web site: http://www.troi.com/software/order.html. You can pay online via credit card or via Kagi, who also accept checks and cash monies.

Protection and unlocking the application

Troi Activator Plug-in has a protection scheme. After you pay Troi Automatisering will tell you how to indicate to Troi Activator Plug-in that you have paid the license fee.

If you do not have an e-mail address, please enter your complete postal address and remember, we do not know what country you live in so please enter that into the postal address also.

After you've supplied the payment data the following is changed:

the not registered warning is replaced by your name.
the flash screen that shows at the first time the plug-in is used is removed. Of course also the delay (which is longer after 30 days of use) will be removed.
the plug-in no longer stops working after 42 minutes.
